Triumph Studios has released a beta demo of Age of Wonders II: The Wizard's Throne, its upcoming turn-based strategy game sequel. The demo contains a single scenario mission from the game.

Age of Wonders II will feature a fantasy gameworld similar to the world that appeared in the original game. Like the first game, it will focus on both empire building and tactical battles, and it will incorporate role-playing elements such as magical spells and hero units that can gain experience, skills, and levels. The new game will use an enhanced graphics engine that will use Direct3D and polygonal elevated terrain, and it will feature smooth zooming and updated particle and shadow effects.

Age of Wonders II: The Wizard's Throne is scheduled for release by Take-Two Interactive in the second quarter of 2002. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game and download the playable demo linked below.
