Age of Mythology: The Titans E3 2003 Preshow Report

Microsoft will be showing its upcoming expansion pack Age of Mythology: The Titans at this year's E3 in Los Angeles. The original Age of Mythology was a colorful real-time strategy game from Ensemble Studios that let you take control of three ancient and powerful civilizations: the Greeks, the Egyptians, and the Norse. Each of the three civilizations could develop its own economy by gathering resources and building structures, and each could recruit armies of powerful military units to defeat its enemies. However, each of these three sides was also able to curry the divine favor of its respective gods to receive powerful magical abilities, new military units, and economic bonuses. The expansion will add plenty of new features to the game.

The original Age of Mythology featured comprehensive multiplayer modes and a lengthy single-player campaign that chronicled the career of a Greek hero from the lost city of Atlantis. The expansion pack will return to this setting and let you play as a new faction, the Atlanteans. This powerful faction will have several new abilities, including the power to call upon Titans for divine intervention and cultural bonuses that will let it manipulate time and space. The Atlanteans will also have the intriguing ability to convert some of their regular units into powerful hero characters.

The expansion pack will also add a new chapter to Age of Mythology's single-player campaign that will consist of several new playable scenarios. In addition, the expansion pack will feature a new victory condition--recruiting a powerful Titan unit. Titans will be much larger on the battlefield than just about any other unit in the game, and they will be powerful combatants who can also inflict severe damage upon enemy bases. This promising PC expansion pack will be released later this year.
