After Less Than 3 Months, $15 Gets You Battleborn and More in a Humble Bundle [Update]

$15 also gets you copies of Civilization V, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and more.

Update: New games have been added to the bundle. In addition to everything else, beating the average sale price gets you four more games: Freedom Force, Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, and Railroad Tycoon 3. The original story follows below with a complete version of what's available.

If the discounts on Battleborn weren't steep enough around the time Overwatch launched, you can now get it for way less: The latest Humble Bundle has it--and a bunch of other 2K games--for only $15.

To be clear, that's not $15 for each of these games; that price gets you Battleborn and a handful of others. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Civilization V, Mafia II, and more are included, while you can also opt to pay less to get only certain games.

No Caption Provided

The full lineup follows below.

Pay $1 or more:

Beat the average (currently $8.92):

Pay $15 or more:

That Battleborn is already discounted to this degree--and thrown into a Humble Bundle, no less--doesn't speak well for the game's performance, at least on PC.

Shortly after its launch, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said it was too soon to tell if it would reach Borderlands-levels of success, though he did claim the "initial results are very encouraging." It saw a peak player count of only 12,000 on Steam in its launch month of May according to third-party site Steam Charts, and that figure has dropped to just over 1,300 in the last month.

Battleborn was released just weeks prior to Blizzard's Overwatch. While the games are fairly different (Battleborn has a campaign and its multiplayer more strongly resembles a MOBA), they're similar enough to draw comparisons that aren't kind to Gearbox's game.

For just $15, though, it is worth a look, particularly with how much else you get with it. For more on Battleborn, check out GameSpot's review.

Didnt they try to add a bunch of microtransactions to the game when it was dying out after the first month. No thanks these companies just dont get it. Its $15 because nobody is playing it and they are desperate for users. U cant really trust a game that has gone down in value so fast and it only launched around a couple months ago thats a red flag for garbage

I love Humble Bundle, but I always wonder why the average price Mac users paid is always higher when most of the games or in the case of some bundles all the games are not Mac compatible

@ello432: Mac gamers are willing to pay more. Why that is is the real question.

@Welverin: why do people buy a Mac anyway? Bad performance, bad reliability, parts cannot be exchanged, very expensive, very unethical company, etc. Just great marketing. Actually, the entire idea behind a Mac is at odds with what Humble Bundle is trying to do. I'm even surprised Mac users would want to visit Humble Bundle.

@Iemander: Wow, I don't think you have ever owned a Mac. I have a Macbook pro from 2007 that I just updated to the latest OS added a bit more RAM, put in a SSD and it runs like a dream and still looks good. I have never had any problems with Apple's warranty programme, as when something was wrong with it, they fixed it immediately without question, and even gave me a slightly upgraded processor. I can understand that you probably don't like Apple, and that's fair, but there's really no need to bad mouth something you show little interest in.

Battleborn - The game that could've been great if they didn't interweave shitty tower defense mobile game mechanics and shove it down your throat constantly.

Battleborn wouldn't be worth it even if it was free. The co op aspect is repetitive and not fun, it takes way too long to get into a match after you pick a hero, and gearbox isn't really doing anything about the hacks people are paying for and using. They hyped this game up for years and this is what we got?

Battleborn: a game with a campaign that doesn't work offline and one player for every dollar of the price tag online. When it failed hard right out of the gate, they needed to begin a switch over to F2P with bonuses for those who bought it. Even then, it's probably too late. It's not that anybody even hates it, it's just a massive wave of indifference. Time is of the essence, but the publisher couldn't be bothered.

I would have gotten this but there is no season pass included for the Pre-Sequel, have no interest in Battleborn (not a bad game just do not want to play it), and several of the other games I already own.

The problem for me with Battleborn during the Beta was that it felt too like Borderlands the pre-sequel (which was a bore); very similar art style, same internet humour and gun play. It didn't feel like it had it's own identity and was just borrowing a successful game and slapping a new brand on it.

@whatsazerg: Is this because you're just sheepishly following the hate train or legitly experienced the game enough to say that its worse than DNF?

Because I played both and Battleborn is a helluva lot better.

Randy was probably really hoping his new game would sale and the GB brand alone, cause of BL. But it didn't, people remember how Randy has played gamers in the past and have been more catious cause of him. But here to hoping that he doesn't mess up the next Borderlands, stick with what works Randy, nice you try new IPs, but get one that is actually good.

@renegade67rick: He was also hoping the game would crush overwatch and be huge enough to see their characters cosplayed at events lol. Loved borderlands 2 (some of the best dlc ever) but knew I was gonna hate battleborn after that lousy prologue mission. the game feels unfinished and looks really bland.

Battleborn is like a solid 7 girl standing next to a smoking hot 10 who's actually nice on a personality level too. No chance. None. Completely overshadowed. But if the solid 7 were by herself? Nothing wrong with that. Wrong place at the wrong time for Battleborn. With comparisons between it and Overwatch running rampant (even if they're unfounded), whoever it was that decided to launch it that close to Overwatch instead of taking a delay to polish, to see what Overwatch is doing, and to capitalize on its mistakes... that person should be run out of the industry entirely. Stevie Wonder could've seen that train wreck coming.

@tonyleo01: Its a bit irksome depending on your steam download region (I have no idea how that works), like my local region is dead so I had to switch to UK to find matches and they come through relatively quick.

MP is fun overall though, it just sucks they set it up this way.

Despite not liking the model very much, I think Battleborn would have done better with a F2P model. MOBAs that are more similar to Battleborn's style have better success that way. Many people that play MOBAs and would have been interested in Battleborn probably got turned off by the initial price since the competition doesn't do that.

@jonhuggs: No, it really isn't. The gunplay isn't fun and the visual design is horrendous to such a degree that you often can't tell what's going on. Many "creeps" are larger than the actual heroes. Why the hell is that? And EVERYTHING is colorful. It's not bad if a game is a bit on the poppy side, but if every single thing on the screen pops, what the hell do you pay attention to? Visually, it's a mess. A mess that directly influences the gameplay.
Blizz knew what they were doing with Overwatch. Sure, the game principles are rather simplistic, but they are executed incredibly well. Battleborn looks and plays shoddy in comparison.

Still more inclined toward Overwatch. Gearbox and Take 2 really took a bath on this one.

Needed to come out 6 months earlier than it did really.

Whelp, back to developing Borderlands 3.

i tihnk battleborn suffered based in it's horrible timing , releasing right before the massively hyped Overwatch.. and the fact overwatche delivered (to most people) and became a huge hit, made it even worse.. making battleborn essentially a "failure" before it can even have a chance to succeed ..and i think that's why this game is going so cheap now..all they have to rely on is player count, which has dropped like crazy so fast.

it's a shame because the game has had decent reviews and the users themselves have been saying how awesome it is at a multiplayer level.

i would say it even is a hidden "gem" in a way, by now.. might pick this up though.. 15 is such a good price.

btw, wasn't this game originally suopposed to be F2P? or was it overwatch?.. one of them changed it at the last second to B2P.
