Aeon Flux infiltrates retail
Charlize Theron gets her game on in Majesco's PS2 and Xbox adaptation of the forthcoming film.
Aeon Flux won't hit theaters for more than two weeks, but that hasn't stopped the game adaptation of the stealthy sci-fi film from sneaking in to stores. Majesco announced today that it has shipped Aeon Flux for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. Rated T for Teen, it will retail for $49.99.
Developed by Terminal Reality (BloodRayne 2), Aeon Flux profiles the titular secret operative, played in the game and film by Charlize Theron (Monster, The Italian Job). Set in the 24th century, its story concerns a rebellion against the totalitarian government of Bregna, the world's last city-state. Flux is part of said rebellion, which seeks to topple the high-tech regime through a clandestine campaign of sabotage and assassination.
As one might expect, Aeon Flux's gameplay will be heavy on stealth elements. The third-person action game follows Flux as she infiltrates various high-security facilities on dangerous missions. As in the film, Flux will show off a repertoire of acrobatic and lethal moves.
Directed by Karyn Kusama (Girlfight), Aeon Flux the movie is based on Peter Chung’s Aeon Flux animation series, which ran from 1992 to 1997 on MTV's weekly animation showcase, Liquid Television. The movie is being produced by MTV Films and Paramount Pictures, both divisions of multimedia, multinational company Viacom.
