The free title, also called Pixels, will be a tower defense game where you control the "Arcaders" from the movie--played by Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Josh Gad, and Peter Dinklage. Your goal is to try to stop 1980s video game characters like Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and Frogger from destroying the world.

The Pixels game will launch sometime before the movie does on July 24, Bandai Namco said. You can see some screenshots of the game in the gallery below.

As for Pixels the movie, the film's first trailer was published last month. It generated 34.3 million views in its first 24 hours, making it Sony Picture's most popular trailer of all time, in terms of initial views. The trailer, which you can see here, is completely crazy.

The premise for Pixels is that classic video game characters attack earth after misinterpreting arcade games as a declaration of war against them. The movie was directed by Harry Potter and Home Alone director Chris Columbus.
