Activison Has A Great Response To Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Leak

Activision has teased a reveal of some type for the next Call of Duty coming up very soon.

Activision has reacted to the recent leak that revealed what appears to be the key art for the unannounced-but-expected Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. In a tweet, the company shared the "real" key art for the game, which is a stick figure wearing a hat and brandishing a gun.

It's a funny way to respond to the leak, and Microsoft got in on the fun with its own low-quality drawing of a person in a chair waiting for the real Call of Duty reveal.

In all seriousness, though, Activision said fans can expect a reveal "next week," including potentially the real key art for the next Call of Duty game.

The reported MW3 leak came from dataminers who dug into the MW2/Warzone Season 5 files to find what they claim to be the key art for this year's Call of Duty. Dataminers also reportedly found references to an in-game event on August 17 where the new Call of Duty could be revealed.

This would be pretty on-brand for Call of Duty. Since the launch of Warzone, Activision has used the battle royale game to engage with fans and announce (or at least tease) future projects. It seems Activision is following that playbook once more for the next Call of Duty.

2023's Call of Duty is expected to be Modern Warfare III, from developer Sledgehammer Games, with the support of Activision's network of Call of Duty development studios. Operators, guns, and purchases from MW2/Warzone will reportedly carry forward to the new game.
