Activision has confirmed that it will be a featured sponsor at QuakeCon 2003, which will take place August 14-17 in Dallas. The publisher will publicly showcase Infinity Ward's Call of Duty at the event and is cohosting the much-anticipated Doom 3 multiplayer deathmatch demonstration with id. Activision is also providing financial support for the annual LAN party, which is a major feature of the event.

"We can't wait for this year's QuakeCon," said Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software. "Where else can our fans take on each other in some great competition, play Doom 3 multiplayer, and check out cool new games like Call of Duty. This is a unique opportunity for all of us at id and Activision to show the games we're working on in a special setting usually reserved for industry-only shows."

Stay tuned next week for GameSpot's coverage of QuakeCon 2003.
