Activision and Id Software have announced the release of Commander Keen for the Nintendo Game Boy Color. The game is based on the original Commander Keen series for the PC and follows 8-year-old superhero Billy Blaze on his quest to save the cosmos. The game is a side-scrolling platformer, and it features several levels in three massive worlds.

"Our philosophy at Id is simple--we make games that we want to play,'' said Todd Hollenshead, CEO of Id Software. "Commander Keen is a perfect universe for the Game Boy Color and delivers straight-up fun for people of all ages.''

Commander Keen is being developed by David A. Palmer Productions and carries a suggested retail price of $29.99.
