Activision acquires Luxoflux

Activision has today announced that it has further enhanced its internal console development capabilities with the acquisition of Santa Monica-based Luxoflux Corporation. The two companies have collaborated since 1997 on such titles as Vigilante 8 and Star Wars: Demolition--more recently, Luxoflux has been working on True Crime: Streets of LA, which is scheduled for release in 2003, and on a game based on the movie sequel to Shrek.

"We are delighted to become a part of the oldest independent video game publisher in the world," stated Adrian Stephens, president of Luxoflux. "We look forward to continuing to contribute to the company's success with our unique brand of original gameplay and technology."

Under the terms of today's agreement, Luxoflux has become a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision. As part of the deal, the company's management team and a number of key employees have signed long-term employment contracts with Activision.
