Acclaim's Priorities Shift

The company says it's on the right track, hopes to rid itself of uninspired titles.

An Acclaim spokesperson today told GS News that its reorganization plan will bring the company back to what made it great: quality titles. Late last week, Acclaim announced that it would be eliminating 115 jobs - said to be 15 percent of its total workforce. Today we were told that all of the 115 eliminated jobs were located in Acclaim's Glen Cove, New York headquarters and that Probe, Iguana, and other Acclaim Entertainment ventures would not be touched. Acclaim said the jobs that were eliminated were mostly administrative positions and that none of the games on Acclaim's release calendar will be affected by the layoffs. However, the staff reduction will result in far fewer games being released in the coming year.
