Acclaim Signs BMX Stars

Decide to get dirty in Acclaim's upcoming BMX sports title.

Comments

Acclaim Sports has signed multiyear endorsement contracts with BMX racing stars Dave Mirra and Ryan Nyquist.

Mirra, 25, is a six-time gold-medal winner in street, vert, and vert doubles competition, as well as being the 1998 X-Games Male Athlete of the Year. BMX Plus Magazine also named him Freestyler of the Year. Nyquist, 20, pulled in a silver medal at last year's dirt competition at the X-Games. He has also been the American Bicycle Association King of Dirt Champion for the past two years. Interestingly, the two BMX champs are also roommates.

"I'm totally stoked to be a part of Acclaim's first BMX title," said Mirra. "I look forward to working closely with Ryan and the Acclaim Sports development team to make a game our fans will want to play."

The two BMX racers will help Acclaim Sports develop the title by consulting on course design and bike physics. More details regarding the first BMX game, due next fall, will be announced in the next few months. The duo will appear at Acclaim's booth during E3 2000. Acclaim has yet to announce whether the title will be PC or console based, but a representative told GameSpot News that the game could be released as for PC and consoles.
