Acclaim dropped by and showed us the latest on the few of its upcomng titles.

Extreme G (Nintendo 64)We had a chance to play a final Nintendo-approved version of the game, and were fairly impressed. This futuristic Wipeout-style racer had many disparate tracks, a good frame rate, nice secret levels, and a fairly interesting multiplayer mode (2-4 players can play on ALL of the tracks). Look for it on October 22nd.

NFL Quarterback Club '98 (Nintendo 64)Quarterback Club '98 for Nintendo 64 may turn out to be the best football video game ever. Quarterback Club '98 is the only game so far in the US to take advantage of the N64's high-resolution graphics mode. And by doing so, QBC '98 looks more like a television broadcast of a live NFL football game than a video game. The control of QBC '98 is incredibly accurate through the use of the analog stick, which allows for precise gameplay.

QBC '98 is also the only NFL licensed football game for the Nintendo 64. Which means that QBC '98 will feature all of the teams, stadiums, logos, and players of the NFL. In addition Brett Farve was commissioned to help make up the more than 500 plays featured in QBC '98. QBC '98 is due to hit store shelves the last week of October.

Forsaken (Nintendo 64, Sony PlayStation, PC)Acclaim's Descent-like title, Forsaken, was moving very quickly as well. The PlayStation version will feature two-player split-screen mode, the Nintendo 64 will have a four-player mode, and the PC will support up to 12 players. The PlayStation and PC versions are due in March, with the Nintendo 64 rev trailing in April.

Super Motorcross (Sony PlayStation) Though we were shown a fairly early build of this moto racing title, it seemed to have potential. Only two tracks were seen, one a standard motocross race course, the other a twisty mountainous pass. Super Motorcross (working title) is planned for early next year.

WWF '98 (Nintendo 64)An early version of Acclaim's wrestling title was on display, with large polygonal characters and a more realistic take on the "sport" (it's less of a fighting game than WWF In Your House). A Sony PlayStation version was shown as well, but was not playable at this time. The differences between the two games are reported to be that the Nintendo 64 version will have grudge matches and the like, and the PlayStation rev will have recorded video footage of wrestlers talking trash to the player.
