Acclaim Revs More Than Double

Turok publisher enjoys growth of interactive entertainment industry - especially from console sales.

Acclaim Entertainment released its financial results for its 1998 fiscal year, which ended Aug. 31. The company took in net revenues of US$326.6 million, compared to revenues of US$165.4 million for fiscal year ‘97. Its fiscal 1998 profit stood at US$20.7 million.

During the period covered by the report, Acclaim released 10 titles that took in more than US$10 million each in sales. Those titles: NFL Quarterback Club 98, All-Star Baseball 99, Extreme-G, Forsaken, Jeremy McGrath Supercross 98, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, Riven: The Sequel to Myst, WWF: War Zone, Bust-a-Move 2 and NHL Breakaway 98.

Acclaim realized 57 percent of its revenues from N64 titles, 30 percent from PlayStation titles, 10 percent from PC titles, and the rest in portables and other categories.
