Acclaim confirms Dave Mirra sequel

Acclaim has confirmed Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 for the Sony PlayStation 2 as part of its most recent financial report. The company plans to release 10 games for the PlayStation 2 in the third and fourth quarter of 2001, including such titles as Crazy Taxi and Fur Fighters Plus.

"We are excited about our next-generation lineup for the fourth quarter," Gregory Fischbach, CEO of Acclaim, said. "Dave Mirra has achieved sales in excess of 1.2 million units worldwide and has forged a very strong identity and awareness level with consumers. At E3 in May, we will introduce the balance of our portfolio for the calendar year by previewing titles for the PlayStation 2, the Xbox, the GameCube, and the Game Boy Advance."

Acclaim reported net revenues of $40.4 million for the second quarter of its fiscal year, which ended March 3. For the first six months of the current fiscal year, Acclaim has shown net earnings of $11.3 million.
