Acclaim Also to Lose Listing?

The company is this month's second game publisher to have its Nasdaq stock listing threatened.

Comments

Acclaim stated today that the Nasdaq stock exchange has decided that the company's financial status doesn't meet some of the exchange's requirements and that the stock will consequently be removed from the exchange. Acclaim has appealed the decision, which would keep the company's stock out of the national level exchange but would allow its listing on the SmallCap exchange instead. This second market has a much lower profile and is open to companies with smaller financial assets. Acclaim's current 1 13/15 stock price is also below the Nasdaq minimum bid price of $5.

Interplay, in a recent announcement, also revealed that the exchange had taken steps to remove its national market status. A company's stock-market health has a strong relationship with its financial heath, and in these cases may impact game-publishing decisions in the long-term.
