A Touch of Evil

Capcom's Resident Evil breaks into the rental charts, smashing the monotony of N64 titles.

Comments

Lately, Nintendo 64 have dominated the rental charts.

This week, however, Resident Evil 2 broke into the elite top five at number three, beating Nintendo's Diddy Kong Racing and Super Mario 64.

The Nintendo 64 domination has gone on so long that the Video Software Dealers Association (VSDA) VidTrac chart mistakenly listed Resident Evil 2 as an N64 title.

GoldenEye 007 can't be budged from the number one slot in the rental charts, and Mario Kart remains popular at number two.

For the curious, here's the chart of the top five rental titles for the week ending Feb. 1, 1998. The last figure is revenues.

1 GoldenEye 007 N64 $301,8402 Mario Kart 64 N64 $196,2303 Resident Evil 2 PS $181,0004 Diddy Kong Racing N64 $180,4405 Super Mario 64 N64 $162,130
