A New X-Files Game Is Coming To Mobile

The X-Files: Deep State is launching next year for iOS, Android, and Facebook.

A new X-Files game is on the way, but it might not be the one you're looking for. The X-Files: Deep State is a mobile game coming to iOS, Android, and Facebook in 2018.

You play a new agent who works alongside Agent Dale (Mulder and Scully are nowhere to be seen) as you investigate "mysterious crime scenes that defy explanation." You'll have to interrogate witnesses, solve puzzles, and collect evidence to get the job done.

According to Eurogamer, Deep State's story is set in 2010, which is between Seasons 9 and 10 of the TV show. New cases will be available on a monthly basis. The game is being developed by Estonia-based studio Creative Mobile, and published by Fox's FoxNext Games division.

Deep State will launch next year, presumably timed around the premiere of The X-Files' 11th season on January 3, 2018. The new game is the first since 2004's PS2 game The X-Files: Resist or Serve.

The X-Files originally ran for nine years, and clocked up 202 episodes between 1993 and 2002. By the time the last of those original seasons had ended, it had become the longest-running consecutive sci-fi series ever on US broadcast TV. Fox first brought the show back for a limited-run season in early 2016, after more than a decade away.
