A New Game Of Thrones Prequel Greenlit For HBO
Let's hope this one sticks.
While one Game of Thrones prequel series got cancelled, another one rises from its ashes. HBO has announced yet another new prequel to Game of Thrones called House of the Dragon, and hopefully, this one actually makes it to production.
During the WarnerMedia investor event, which mainly covered the upcoming streaming service HBO Max, the upcoming 10-episode GoT series was announced. The story will be based on George R.R. Martin's book Fire & Blood and take place 300 years prior to the events of Game of Thrones. The series will tell the story of House Targaryen.
"The Game of Thrones universe is so rich with stories," explained Casey Bloys, president of HBO programming. "We look forward to exploring the origins of House Targaryen and the earlier days of Westeros along with Miguel, Ryan and George."
Miguel Sapochnik (Game of Thrones, House) will direct the pilot and additional episodes for the series. Saopchnik will serve as showrunner alongside House of the Dragon writer Ryan Condal (Rampage).
No news as to when House of the Dragon will debut on HBO.
