Amazon is developing a new GI Joe TV series, according to a report from Deadline. The live-action TV show will center on Jaye, who was played by Adrianne Palicki in the 2013 movie G.I. Joe Retaliation.

Carnival Row showrunner Erik Oleson is the creator and showrunner for the new GI Joe show, which doesn't have a title yet.

This will be a "standalone story" that focuses on Jaye, but the program will connect to the wider G.I. Joe universe in some capacity, the report said.

It seems to be very early days for Amazon's G.I. Joe show, as there is no word yet on who will play the lead role or any of the supporting characters. Similarly, no details are available as to when the project may begin shooting or when it's expected to premiere on Prime.

Whatever the case, it's just the latest big get for Amazon. The company also recently announced a new Mr. and Mrs. Smith series with Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Donald Glover, while Chris Pratt's new military show The Terminal List is coming to Amazon as well. And of course, Amazon is producing the big-budget Lord of the Rings show as well.
