$800 Shadow Of The Tomb Raider Statue Was Made By LOTR Studio

Lord of the Rings studio Weta Workshop creates a new video

Weta Workshop, the props studio behind the Lord of the Rings franchise, has revealed a new Lara Croft figure based on a tense scene from Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The $800 USD statue is a 1:4 scale model made of polystone. It was designed by Weta's Daniel Falconer and was first shown off at San Diego Comic-Con back in July.

It shows Lara in the jungle as she's pursued by a jaguar. The richly detailed model shows Lara with her fighting tools like her knife, bow, pistol, and pickaxe. The tree the jaguar stands on is covered in moss, while the entire figure stands on a base that looks like stone. Only 750 of these are being made; you can pre-order now from Weta's website.

Now Playing: Shadow Of The Tomb Raider - The Dark Evolution Of Lara Croft

"I fondly recall staying up far too late playing the original Tomb Raider game into the small hours, so it was a delight to revisit Lara Croft two decades later to dream up pose ideas for this statue," Falconer said. "Lara is the fearless badass we all wish we were!"

The new Lara figure is part of Weta's new Shadow of the Tomb Raider collection. The other pieces include a prop replica of Lara's bow and arrow ($300 USD) made of "high impact urethane material" and a prop replica of the jade necklace ($100 USD) that Lara wears in the game. The statue ships in February 2019, while the necklace arrives in September alongside the game. The bow and arrow is due out at the end of 2018. All can be pre-ordered now.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider launches on September 14 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game completes the trilogy that started with 2013's Tomb Raider, but there could be more games to come after it.
