Here are the games that impressed us most at PAX East.

Regardless of what platform you own, gamers have a lot of major titles to look forward to in 2018, from the upcoming God of War to marquee holiday releases such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and the Switch version of Super Smash Bros. But while these big-name games may garner the most attention, they are hardly the only ones worth picking up this year.

Already, 2018 has seen a host of wonderfully inventive indie games arrive on every platform, from the captivating Metroidvania-style platformer Iconoclasts to the critically acclaimed tactical gem Into the Breach. And there are many other such games still on the way this year, as we got to see firsthand at PAX East 2018.

During the show, the GameSpot team got the opportunity to try out a variety of upcoming titles, including many that you may not be familiar with. In the video above, Tony Wilson recounts the games that impressed us most at the show. It was difficult to whittle the list down, but the seven we selected are ones you should certainly keep an eye on in 2018, from the bonkers billiards game Pool Panic to the Ninja Gaiden-style platformer The Messenger.

We also got to go hands-on with some higher profile games at the show, including the Switch versions of Dark Souls Remastered and Wolfenstein II, as well as Super Meat Boy's long in-development sequel, Super Meat Boy Forever. You can see some of our other videos from PAX East 2018 below.
