Nintendo confirmed the existence of the Nintendo Expansion Slide Pad in September, saying the 3DS peripheral that adds a second analog pad will arrive in Japan on December 10. However, the publisher has been mum on when gamers in the rest of the world will be able to plug their 3D-enabled handhelds into the new peripheral.

And while Nintendo still hasn't been forthcoming with that information, according to Capcom, the Slide Pad will be available in North America by early February. Nintendo World Report said this week that it had received confirmation from Capcom at last week's New York Comic-Con that the 3DS Slide Pad would be available for use in Resident Evil: Revelations, which is due on February 7.

Capcom offered no other details on the matter and had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment as of press time. Nintendo told GameSpot only that the Slide Pad had not yet been dated for North America.

Following up on this year's action-focused Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, Revelations will try to return the series to its survival horror roots. The game will follow Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine in an episodic story-driven adventure set between the events of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5. The agents are once again on a mission to discover the truth behind a zombie outbreak, with this one stemming from the T-Abyss virus.
