Next Tuesday, Guerrilla Games' warmly received first-person shooter Killzone 3 arrives exclusively for the PlayStation 3. The franchise is one of Sony’s biggest, and the publisher is treating the release to a special $130 Helghast Edition, as well as downloadable content from the get-go.

Sony has its sights set on a Killzone 3 bundle.
Sony has its sights set on a Killzone 3 bundle.

Now, Sony is offering fans without a system a reason to get on board. Due out alongside Killzone 3 on February 22 will be the new 160GB Killzone 3 PlayStation 3 bundle. The package will include a copy of the title and a system for $300, the same price as the 160GB PS3 solo.

Gamers eager to jump into the game before it is released next week can download a single-player demo for Killzone 3 from the PlayStation Store today. The demo features a single level, Icy Incursion, which sees players return to the conflict between the human Interplanetary Strategic Alliance and the Nazi-like Helghast. As the title implies, the level will feature a wintry landscape on the planet Helghan, which players must negotiate with the help of jetpacks. Melee combat will also play a major role in the level.

Killzone 3 will be available in two versions, a standard $60 release and a $130 limited-edition package with a replica mask and helmet of the series' signature Helghast armies. While the headgear is the centerpiece of the extra goodies, the collector's edition will also include a 6.5-inch articulated cloaking Helghast marksman action figure, an art book, and a voucher to download multiplayer maps, the game's soundtrack, and more.

MrSelf-Destruct @ You said it man, respect. Only if today's parents cared about the game rating we wouldn't have whiny kids annoying everybody online on PS3 and Xbox360.

@Andy9Beans Wow... a bit thick, are we? You've never heard of "collector's items" before? Same reason people bought the Limited Editions of Assassin's Creed II and Halo Reach. Or hell, even the figures for World of WarCraft. If you'd even look at some of these, you'd understand that they're meant for display purposes only, and not toys at all. The majority of people who buy these are NOT buying 'em for their kids. Your pointless rant is pointless, sir. :|

@Andy9Beans You must not be aware that there are thousands of adult men and women who collect action figures. It shouldn't matter if the game is bundled with a plush doll, parents need to look at the games rating. 17+ means your kid's too damn young. Period.

This is a pretty sweet deal. Even if people dont want Killzone 3, they could just buy this and sell Killzone 3 back to get their PS3 cheaper

It almost reminds me of the marketing ploys used by Microsoft with the Halo games. It should have been boxed with Resistance 3.

Why offer a helmet and action figure with an adult-certificated game? Surely anyone 18+ is not going to be interested in kids toys. This sort of practice misleads parents into thinking adult games are suitable for children... and considering one of the brutal melees involves popping eyeballs using your thumbs this ISN'T a children's game! The EU's getting a "middle" choice too, a Collectors Edition which has the steelbook and DLC codes for only £5 more. Since the Retro Pack is going to be at least £8 that's a saving already :)

Looks like I might finally get a PS3. Not for Killzone; I'm selling that and getting Uncharted. It's not Killzone, it's me. I don't like FPS's.
