With 2015 coming to a close, Google has now published lots of lists that speak to what was most popular through the search engine in the past year. Included is a chart for the top trending video games of 2015 for the United States--and the top overall game might surprise you.

As published on Google's website, the top overall "trending" video game for 2015 was Agar.io, which was also near the top of the chart for YouTube. Rounding out the top five were Fallout 4, Mortal Kombat X, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, and Star Wars Battlefront, all games based on big-name properties.
Agar.io is a free-to-play multiplayer browser and strategy game that has proven to be a huge hit following its release earlier this year. You play as a cell in a petri dish with the goal of expanding your mass by eating other players, while simultaneously avoiding being gobbled up by others.
