2014 Game Awards Nominees Announced

Game of the Year nominees are Bayonetta 2, Dark Souls II, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Hearthstone, and Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.

The nominees for The Game Awards 2014 have been announced.

Bayonetta 2, Dark Souls II, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Hearthstone, and Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor are up for the top prize of overall Game of the Year.

Dark Souls II, Hearthstone, Shadow of Mordor, and South Park: The Stick of Truth lead the way with three nominations each across all categories. Meanwhile, Nintendo was the most nominated publisher with 12 nominations.

Below is a breakdown of nominees by category. Nominees were selected by a jury of 28 international media outlets, including GameSpot and sister site Giant Bomb. To be considered, games must have been released commercial by November 25.

<< LINK REMOVED >> They worked hard on the games. It was more the just a resolution boost like most developers do, but a overhaul of resolution, textures, and gameplay mechanics that they fixed and made better.


I love The Last of Us but the fact that the remaster still had Ellie running around and not alerting enemies really took me out of the action.

Everyone has their own opinion of course but to me, man, a lot of these categories and nominees are wacked. I'd seriously throw out the last four categories and the lame Remastered one, and replace them with the tried and true Best Graphics (separate ones for Technical and Artistic), Best Sound Design, Best Character(s), Most Humorous, and have a few platform exclusives only awards! Sure people would get a little more fired up about a few of these categories but probably not as much as they are overall right now because of all the silly, niche ones that are on here!
