Following on the heels of the Quake 4 competition at G.A.M.E., GameSpot has announced that its next online prize tournament will take place on December 15 and 16, featuring Quake 4. The id-endorsed online event will have 64 participants face off in one-on-one matches for a $2,000 prize purse. The winner of the two-day Seismic Showdown event will have the chance to play in a special exhibition match with longtime Quake pro gamer Kornelia Takacs in addition to taking home a $750 gift certificate.

The semifinals and finals will be broadcast live on Friday, December 16 starting at 4:45 p.m. PT.

Registration for the Seismic Showdown event will open December 12 on a first-come, first-served basis for GameSpot subscribers. This is the fifth monthly prize tournament for GameSpot subscribers. Previous events included Day of Defeat: Source and Unreal Tournament 2004, which can be viewed in the video archive.
