GSC Game World announces that its futuristic first-person shooter has gone gold but will only work with Windows 2000 and XP systems.

GSC Game World has today announced that FireStarter has gone gold. It's not all good news, though, because it's also been revealed today that the futuristic first-person shooter, which is currently scheduled for release early next year, will only run on systems running Windows 2000 or Windows XP. The only reason given for FireStarter's incompatibility with the 95, 98, and ME versions of Windows is that there are "technical peculiarities" with the game.

FireStarter will challenge players to survive the attacks of a computer for a total of 48 hours after they become trapped in a virtual-reality game. For more information on FireStarter, which is being published in North America by Hip Interactive, check out our previous coverage of the game.
