[UPDATE] The "Elite" Xbox One controller will cost $150. You can read a lot more about it at Microsoft's website.

The original story is below.

As part of Microsoft's E3 2015 briefing today, the company officially announced a new Xbox One controller.

It's called an "Elite" controller, and it aims to offer "pro level precision." The wireless pad has hair trigger locks, swappable components, and button and paddle remapping.

No Caption Provided

The new controller has been designed for Xbox One and Windows 10, and is different than the slightly tweaked Xbox One controller that comes with the new 1TB Xbox One console.

Microsoft did not announce a release date or price for the new Elite Xbox One controller.

Microsoft's E3 2015 briefing is ongoing; follow along with our liveblog here.

Damn, this looks awesome. I want something like this on a PS4, but I don't want to buy a SCUF.

If I have to bother to get a pricey controller to have fun with video games, I'll just stop playing them altogether.

Yeah, I'd rather buy Fallout 4, Deus Ex Mankind Divided and Dark Souls 3 and keep my 360 controller on PC.

That is awesome but pricey. I'm not surprised by the price but it is still is more than I would pay for a controller.

Did not see this coming. Price is pretty close to what some third parties charge, so I guess those fussing over it, didn't know these mods have been out there for some time. Probably received a good ass kicking by somebody using one at some point.

I can accept this product existing, because it's for the hardcore competitive gamers. Then I remembered that group of people play on PC, and not console.

@OmegaGear: Yeah because some of those professional players are making hundreds of thousands playing Halo and Street Fighter on the PC. Oh, wait....

$150 is nothing to the people who would want to use this controller e.g. Pro's

@pspearman:

Any time someone pulls the "pro card" on products as a necessity doesn't get what makes a pro. If you're good at something, you can use stock equipment.

@Gravity_Slave: Yet no pro does because they generally belong to a sponsored team and are provided with top of the range products

He he, you've got to be joking. Who in their right mind is going to pay $150 for a controller just for these features? Absolutely ridiculous.

@bdrtfm the ps4 controller is a hulking bag of shite. 've broken 4 not completely bust, i don't bash the controller, occasionally it's dropped but something inside always breaks, i find in fps games i have to use a new controller solid hard for a cpl weeks before it feels normal. i'd love a reinforced built for precision controller.

ps4 controller is 45 quid, i get 21 quid back for a broken one when I trade it in. would I pay 110-120 for a reinforced precision ps4 controller? **** yes.

@flyincloud1116: If people have the money, all the power to them. But, that is a lot of cash for the features you get. That's double the price or two new AAA games. Its not that I can't afford it. I just can't justify it.

@lnception: really how so? It's not like the competition has a better controller than the standard X1 controller to begin with let alone anything close to this and btw it's optional.

I'm sorry, $150 is just too much for a controller. Especially after seeing this (on their site) :

"Batteries: (2) AA (included). Compatible with Xbox One Play & Charge Kit (sold separately)."

Really? Batteries, again?

@Choad-Warrior: I love how the Xbox controllers use regular batteries. I always have rechargeables on standby. Quick swap and I am right back in the game. No cables, no hassle.

@Choad-Warrior: Nothing wrong with options, at least this way the controller isn't worthless if the lithium battery dies.

@pspearman: I haven't had a problem with lithiums going bad, nor has anyone I know, I don't know where people came to that conclusion.

$150 for a controller? You must be joking. I could've bought Steel Batallion with the controller and game for that much at a local game shop a year ago.

All I need is a PSU for my old gaming rig, and arcade controls, and I can build a two player arcade cabinet... for less than this controller.

This, is the controller that should have come out with the $500 kinect-less xbox1 nearly 2 years ago!

If the controller has full button mapping, trigger sensitivity, and everything a tad tighter .... well it would make an almost perfect controller even better!
