Electronic Arts has today shipped the PS2, Xbox, and GameCube versions of James Bond 007: NightFire to stores in North America. The game, which is not based on the new James Bond Die Another Day movie that premiered in London's Royal Albert Hall yesterday, features an original storyline in which Bond must prevent a criminal mastermind named Rafael Drake from taking over the world.

As is befitting for a game starring James Bond, players will travel to numerous locations as they progress through the game, including the Austrian Alps, the depths of the South Pacific, and even outer space. In addition to the first-person shooter levels, the console versions of the game released today also feature a number of exclusive driving levels developed by the same team responsible for Electronic Arts' Need for Speed racing games. The PC version of the game, which will be released on November 25, features additional single-player first-person levels as well as online multiplayer support.

James Bond 007: NightFire is available in North America now and is scheduled for release in Europe on November 29, with the PC version following on December 6. For more information, check out our previous coverage of the PS2 , PS2 , PS2 , and PS2 versions of the game.
