A little bit of everything the era had to offer...

Since there isn't much to this game (or anything else released for the Vectrex, for that matter), I'll keep my review short.

Armor: Attack! is one of those games I found extremely difficult to play as a kid. The Vectrex controller seemed big and awkward in my little hands, so this game's complex controls frustrated me more than those for Star Hawk and Berzerk.

The goal was simple - direct your tank from a top-down perspective around walls to destroy one or two lurking enemy tanks. While this sounds fairly simple, the A.I. would detect you as soon as you rounded a corner to confront it. While this could get somewhat tedious, the chopper that would fly around at random intervals made for a refreshing and much easier target to shoot at.

In essence, the sweetest part of Armor: Attack! is the sound. The high pitched shrieks the Vectrex is accustomed to making fits well with the squeaks and low rumble of your tank. When the chopper appears, you're treated to some pretty cool sound effects. You know... considering this game came out in '82.

This game is not the best the Vectrex has to offer, but it's definitely one game I'm glad to be able to say I still own.
