A great game turned bad, a 1 year review

User Rating: 3 | ArcheAge PC

I have been playing ArcheAge since day #2 of the headstart, could not log in day #1, grinded my gear and spend $$ in the marketplace to this day to witness how Trion managed to ruin their third major update since launch, making them 3 for 3 in botched launches, and giving their team an almost-inexplicable critical failure rate of 100%.

I also have been pretty vocal against Trion's business practices, including how they give attention to the marketplace while there are still plenty of bugs and glitches in the game, or how server transfers have been promised in 2014, the whole 2015, and now they are saying 2016 the earliest and to the fact that they simply don't listen to player feedback.

The game has turned into a potential WoW-Killer, into a huge cash-grab, somewhere along october/november, the game dropped any disguise and it became a massive and shameless P2W game, where in order to advance, you need to spend a great deal of real life money in it, an average whale spend between 1-3k a month, less than that you will not even make a dent.

Even with all that, I enjoyed the game and managed to grind my gear up to nearly 5400 gear score, while I watch trion's update turned the game more heavy, with fps drops and the servers each time more lagged, Trion's business practices became more questionable, and customer support virtually disappeared, to this day I have a 15 days, unanswered ticket, simply asking to move a bound item from one character to another in the same account.

The only good thing I can take out of my time of AA are the friendships I made, Nuian, Haranyan, earlier this year, my ALT account was banned and it took them 35 days to reply and unban, and lately there has been a massive wave of false positives, a bunch of legit players have been banned, yours truly among them, it has been a week without any reply to my tickets, but even if I recover my account(which I'm not holding my breath), to me that was the last straw with AA, in the past few months, I was very disappointed with the game, so I mostly only PVP.

However those news, are something I take with mixed feelings, while sad, this was a blessing in disguise, I have spent a massive amount of time and money in the game, and it has brought a great deal of frustration with one bad decision after another from the publisher, and the game continue to thrives with hackers and botters.

Because of that, I really can't recommend this game, it is a massive time and real life money sink and in the end you will end up frustrated with the current status of the game, which is a dying game, filled with empty servers, they just had to do massive mergers which destroyed players progression, meaning also that the publisher value it's players very little.
