The perversion level and character development may suck you in, but the battle system just... sucks.

I really wanted to love this game and part of the time I did. However, the decent story and fun character development are ruined with what feels like unfinished gameplay.

Battle System/Area Maps- The battles are boring and basically broken. While the basic idea is good (the girl in the party sings and you have to sync your attacks with the higher notes which come up,) your character has a basic 1-2-3 combo attack, with no flexibility. Basically, if there are two bars an inch apart, you have to hit one and hope he's ready to attack again when the next comes up. This makes the battles pretty boring. Also, any time an AI teammate approaches an enemy you are fighting (which is very often) the game slows-down horribly. Even the bar at the bottom of the screen, which tells you when it's best to attack, sputters, which makes you miss the beats and draws out the battle. I was hoping that this game wouldn't have a slowdown issue. I skipped buying Hyperdimension Neptunia because the Youtube videos had excess slowdown. Unfortunately it's here too, which is just unacceptable for a system exclusive; especially one with older graphics. Do these smaller companies just not have the right dev kits? The battles are made slightly more bearable by being limited in each dungeon. Once your enemy bar goes down, you can run around freely for treasure chests, which you may want because some items you find can lead to conversations with the girls on your team. Jumping is iffy in some areas. You can jump up to some ledges that are too high for you and get stuck on the wall, allowing another jump up, instead of walking to the box a bit further down.

Story/Characters- Here is why this game received higher than a 2.0. The story is decent. It's not great. The characters, however, are fairly well done; including occasional voiceovers, which are nice to have. Unfortunately, I was let down even in this area, as the game seems to be a dating sim from the trailer, and you make essentially three important choices and maybe two or three other dialogue choices of no consequence. Basically, if certain things happen (E.g. One of the girls gets hurt a bit in battle, you pick up a Ribbon item and have it in your inventory or you go to a new locale) you can initiate conversation with the girls at night. Now, you can make a few choices in the Dive world of the girls' psyches. Both of them have interesting minds (though Saki can get a bit annoying through her use of "Saki" three times per speaking line,) and this is where the game shines. Unfortunately, on a single runthrough, you only get a little less than halfway through each girls' Dive worlds; meaning you have to go through a lot of bad gameplay to get to the fun. I'll be stuck not finishing these stories until a year or two from now, when I have built up the nerve to suffer through the gameplay to finish their stories. The game does provide multiple endings (5,) but two of them are a bit hard to get, and you'll most likely need a guide to figure it out.

Perversion Factor- The girls take their clothes off in order to unleash stronger attacks, just like in real life mud wrestling. The game does slightly earn its M rating here (as well as in some of the cheesier dialogue) with some good ole-fashioned jello-like breasts and bouncy nipples. There's never any full nudity, but it gets fairly close. This would be more exciting with better graphics, but it looks decent enough during the occasional magic girl stripping scenes. There are two main girls and both of them have multiple personae/bodies. They have different stats, but in a game this poorly made, they don't matter; so I just picked the hottest one and threw her in my party. Also, a few parts of the game even include a "panic button" which you can hit to bring up innocent looking screens. The trophy for hitting this button is called "Nothing, Ma!" I probably would have appreciated this ten years ago.

For the tl;dr in all of us:

Pros-
It's perverted.
The characters are interesting.
The music isn't bad.
The story is fine.
Occasional voice overs.

Cons-
It's perverted. (If you're not into that.)
Slowdown in battle.
Broken/boring/way too easy battle.
A few towns have odd viewing perspectives, which make the character models look ridiculous.
The music, while good, isn't all very original sounding.

Bottom line: If you want a good RPG... good luck finding one (of the non-hybrid variety) this generation that comes with a good story. Resonance of Fate and Eternal Sonata seem to be the only really good ones. Check those out. If you want a perverted diversion and don't mind bad gameplay, then by all means get this game. I'd recommend waiting for a price drop though.

Also, if you want a game where talking to girls is the focus and talking to them isn't fruitless; a game where the battle-system isn't quite so bad... try searching eBay or something for the old PSX classic, Thousand Arms. It's vastly superior and most of you probably haven't played it.
