Ar Tonelico is an amazing RPG that gets overlooked because of out-dated graphics and lack of attention it deserved.

Ar Tonelico is one of the most unique games that I've played in a long time perhaps what makes it so unique is its fact that your most of your damage can be done by using your Reyvetails in battle, I'll explain more about the battle systme later on. For starters the story stats out really interesting you play as Lyner a young boy who lives in a floating city called Plantina, Viruses start attacking the Alter of Apostles which is next to the City and Lyner and two others are sent to investigate. Once they realize that something is indeed wrong Lyner travels down to the lower world to obtain an Item called the Hymn Crystal to save the upperworld, along the way he meets many people who help him out.
The Concept in Ar Tonelico that stands out to me the most is Unique Dive System, you are able to dive into whats called the Cosmosphere basically the minds of your allies and learn more about them, its also how you get song magic for your Reyveteils, The story of each character keeps you interested in it too and makes diving very fun and unique, by diving you are able to grow closer to your Allies as well.
Its battle system is turn-based, you have three Supporters and a Reyveteil, your supporters are the ones that do your physical damage and use Items while your Reyveteil uses Magic, your main units take the most damage but it is possilbe that certain enemies target your Reyveteils and you must use one or more character to take the damage if you don't suceed you might risk not being albe to give commands the the Reyveteil the rest of the battle. Perhaps the most unique thing aboutthe battle system is the gauge that charges up when your Reyveteils are charging there magic, it drains your MP but increases the amount of damage done the higher the percentage the more the attack will do.
The game is also quite emotionally driven and you grow to like each character individually, each have a reason there traveling and bring humor into the game, there are times when you feel that you can almost feel the characters pain in the game and that my freinds is a good aspect to have in a game.
I Recommend this game to just about anybody but mainly those who love the JRPG genre its fun unique gameplay and good story make it a worthy game to consume your time. 9.5/10
