Aquaman: Battle for Atlantis is another disappointment in comic book gaming.

I anxiously looked forward to this game. Didn't want to believe the negativity I had been hearing because hardly anybody likes Aquaman in the first place. Asked for it for Christmas, then waited anxiously for another year for my brother to find it after misplacing.

Even before the first level is over you get bored by the monotony. Punch and kick a handful of bad guys, swim a predetermined course to the next batch of baddies, beat them up, and then to spice it up, sic a shark on them. Over and over and over. That's all the game really is.

The music is bland & generic, the only things that keeps you awake is listening to Aquaman make noise as he swims. The camera is completely horrible, shifting non-stop in the middle of close fights. You'll be in the middle of fighting someone, then the camera will jerk you around to face someone who hasn't even gotten to you yet.

+) The atmosphere of the ocean is quite vast and spacious. -) It's also all in the same bland blue and green colors so places don't differentiate well between a building and water.

+)The levels are split up by panels inspired by Aquaman's comic book roots. -)Most small children can read faster than the rate the panels would change.

+)The battles in the Aquasub are fun and even a little challenging. -)There are other spaceship/vehicle games that do it better, and when you play a superhero game you want to play as the hero themself and not their vehicles (except maybe Batman, he's got too many cool toys).

+)Option of unlocking other character's after beating game. -)One is original Aquaman, so you lose your weapon and range attack.

I always got the impression this could have been way better. The environments themselves gave me ideas of 'Tomb Raider' meets 'Little Mermaid'. But it looks like work was stopped half way so a half-assed product could be put on shelves. The best thing was that I was actually able to get $10 credit when I traded it.
