Remember Frequency? Yeah, it was a really crappy game. This game, Amplitude, is the sequel to Frequency. I said, "Oh, great, another crap game." I was proven wrong. I LOVE Amplitude. It is without a doubt the most addicting, carpal-tunnel-syndrome-causing, and impressive framerate game ever made for the PlayStation 2. Let's talk about the gameplay. You are in a laser-blasting podracer, I guess is one way to put it. You are designated a FREQ in this game. Your objective is to use 3 lasers to blast tiles with musical notes trapped inside on the tracks of a song (drums, bass, guitar, synth, sfx, voice). After a phrase, it will be on it's own for a while and you will have to move to another track. You get combos for the number of tracks you blast without screwing up. If you screw up, you have to start another track. Sounds boring, right? Wrong! It is one of the most phenomenal and addicting games ever. Now on to the graphics. The graphics are good, but not superb. Why? Well, for one thing, your FREQ is not that good-looking, especially if you design a custom one. The other, the music videos in the background while you're playing are just one 3-second clip playing over and over again. However, the environments and tracks are outstanding. You either love the graphics or hate em in this game. Now on to sound. The array of music this game has is unbelievable. There so many different genres in this game, there were some genres that I'm not a fan of (I LOVE MUSIC). They have everything from P.O.D. to David Bowie to Blink 182 to Mekon to Run DMC to Herbie Hancock's "Rockit." I love that song. 10/10, need I say more? The difficulty in this game is just right because you get to select your difficulty. How difficult this game is depends on your hand-eye coordination. If it's good, you'll do good. If it sucks, you'll suck. But it's great nonetheless. Unbelievably unique, totally addicting, great music: 9.0 out of 10. +Great music selection +Addicting +Just plain fun +ROCKIT! -Needs more genres (jazz, classical) -No music videos
