Yooka-Laylee's First Update Addresses The Game's Camera Issues

Playtonic Games has outlined a few details on some of the tweaks players can expect from its first major update for Yooka-Laylee.

The studio will be implementing some commonly requested improvements to the title, including the ability to skip cutscenes, skip through dialogue more quickly, and reduce the game's "gibberish" voice acting. The developers will also be polishing other aspects of the title, such as refining the way its camera operates--one of the aspects of the game we took issue with in our review. Playtonic has released the following clip to demonstrate the improved camera.

Playtonic has yet to announce just when the Yooka-Laylee update will go live, though the studio has said it will be rolling out "in the coming weeks." There is likewise still no word on when the Switch version of the game will be launching.

Yooka-Laylee was released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on April 11. The game was also intended to launch on Wii U, though development on that version was eventually canceled and shifted over to Nintendo's new Switch. Yooka-Laylee garnered mixed reviews from many outlets on its release; while some praised the game for its charming characters and similarities to the collectathon platformers of the Nintendo 64 era, others found its style of gameplay to be outdated.
