This game changed the way I thought about how far horror can go.
The way the game gets into your mind is just overwhelming. You will probably pause the game during a scene and take a break. The darkness, the monsters, and that cracking noise you here when you're in the dark for too long. This made the game seem so different in the fact that it was a horror adventure game.
The combat system is kind of a rip off though because there is no combat at all. All you have is a lantern and your sanity. When you here a monster, you have to look away and listen to it walk behind you, hoping it wont spot you. This game leaves you hopeless in a dire situation of fear as you cannot fight back. It's either you run and hide, or you die. How they put this together with the utter darkness and disturbingly eerie storyline is astonishing.
The custom stories are very cool as well, as players have the power to make your own storyline. Personally, the graphics, scariness, eeriness and the sheer brilliance this game brings is just phenomenal.
