The game takes place in the 1800's, with a person named daniel having nightmares of a spiritual monster chasing him. apparently he broke a rare artifact, and is being hunted for it. he goes to castle brennenburg, looking for a man to help him. he does (in a way), but this is a game i'd hate to spoil to you. you go around solving puzzles and... DESCENDING (lol) deeper into the castle. apparently to kill the man that "helped" you. the atmosphere sometimes becomes too much for your character, and you sometimes fall into comas. you have a sanity meter. The lower your sanity is, monsters can find you more easily, you become slower, and you get more comas. sometimes bugs appear on your screen. to increase or keep sanity, you have to solve puzzles, or keep your lantern full by finding oil around the game. oh, and you're wondering about the monsters? this is THE reason why the game is as good as it gets. you CAN'T FIGHT THE MONSTERS! you have to hide, run, or use some intresting tactic to get past them. if you're wondering what that means, here's some examples:
Put things like paintings in between the monsters.
throw something at the monsters and make a run for it.
I KNOW that you will get scared to death. i've only ever met 2 people in my entire life who don't have an extreme fear of that game. so, i'll see you guys next time!
