This game makes John Romero's Daikatana look good.

I would say this game was a disappointment but I wont, I read some reviews before I picked up the game off the web for a dollar. But I figured, hey it's just a dollar. Besides that killing zombies has been and always will be fun.

Honestly I only played the game for 10-15 minutes, so I can't write a whole hearted review but that's about as long as I could play the game before I lost the will to play any further.

First, it's a video game so I'm going to have to comment on the graphics. How can they release a game in 2006 with no option to change the resolution? While everything is cell shaded, it's still no reason to have such low texture quality either. Maybe they can't help it since the game runs in such low resolution. To add it all up, they game looks dated, very dated. On par with American McGees's Alice from 2001. Wonder if it uses the same engine? Na, in Alice looks better and you can change the resolution.

I can push the graphics debate to the side if the game is fun. I have a pretty fair collection of games and while some are a low res block fest, they can still be a blast to play. But while I was playing Bad Day L.A. I was mostly confused where to go, sure I would figure it out after a while but I wasn't given much of anything in the way of hint's. God forbid give me a direction arrow. The last quest I was given was to take a sick boy to the ambulance. Hmmm, no flashing lights, no sirens. How am I supposed to help this boy if the game designers don't help me. Give use some visual and audio clues or a direction arrow. Sure in the mist of chaos you should be confused and lost, but I didn't feel like I was in chaos, just lost.

I never did save that boy, I ran around aimlessly and even hit the space bar on all the walls. I talked to myself a lot "I'm feeling kinda lost". Somehow I was set on fire, so I ran into the fireman's water while he was hosing something (concrete?) and it killed me. Huh? I died again while searching more for that stupid ambulance. Why on earth can pedestrians continuously beat each other and never die while I can take only so many hits by the same guys?

Sound effects are lacking, I picked up the shot gun and I was like, "Oh Yeah!". Then I shot it. Doom has a better sounding shotgun. A game that is over 15 years old has better sound effects. *shakes head* Sometimes there is no ambient sounds at all, just kinda strange and empty feeling comes over you. The voice acting isn't too bad, but the, no wait the voice acting is bad and compounded by the horrible dialog. They are trying to be funny here but it just doesn't work. If they had say, Chris Rock do the voice acting...

I can't recommend this game, it almost seems like a glorified web flash game of sorts. Go ahead and put this up on your shelf right next to John Romero's Daikatana. That's where mine is.
