Wow. Just wow. First the awful arcade game, then the awful ports to the Genesis and Turbografx..

Their is nothing complex or interesting about "Altered Beast," but people still talk like its some sort of ancient relic of gaming history, which it most certainly is not. Whats worse is that people criticize both the mega drive version and the PC engine version all the time, without realizing its essentially the same as the arcade game with a graphical downgrade. So the mechanics are still intact and this is obviously hilarious, seeing as they are just broken beyond repair. You stomp along from left-to-right punching your way through cheap off-screen enemy's that spawn in obnoxiously invisible locations and all the while you are likely to be hit every time this occurs. The sound is absolutely terrible, the graphics are horrific, yet the design and presentation remain oddly strong throughout. It just doesn't cut it, and never cut it, as a beat-em up. Don't bother touching this game, leave it for the random 30 year old man children that still like overrated arcade titles.
