Altered Beast is one of them games that once you play it you will never forget it. Weather your great at this game or just so poor you would rather place this so far away and forget about it but you can never forget the game called only Altered Beast.....No realy you can not it will hunt you down untill you remember it again and then lay in hiding untill your mind starts to forget and then it will do it all again to you.

I do not hate or love this game but i do like playing it. Why i am not sure but i think it may have to do with it being one of the first games i owned....or the first one i walked into a shop and bought.

Altered Beast as many of you may or may not know is based around a centurion who had died in battle. The centurion is controled by the player and it is your mission to rescue Zeus' daughter, Athena. Altered Beast is a side scrolling, platform, beat 'em up you know the old school style the ones they do not make these days. Now here is the strange thing that many or you may not know. 'Centurion' was a rank in the Roman Army, the game takes place in a setting resembling Ancient Greece, complete with gods, temples and ruined Ionic columns. Which is strange as you would thing they would have got that part right.

Now with a game being called Altered Beast you know that your not going to be in control of any run of the mill centurion. The player as he makes his way through the game will obtain "Spirit Balls". These power up the player so they can turn into a superhuman...Stage one: "giant man", stage two: "superman"....And when three are collected, the hero transforms into a beast with exceptional abilities. Hence the name of the game Altered Beast.

Altered Beast has come out on many many platforms and these are just a few of them:

Arcade, DOS, Amstrad CPC, MSX, NES, Atari ST, Commodore Amiga, Sega Master System, Sega Mega Drive/Sega Genesis, PC Engine CD, Commodore 64, Virtual Console, Xbox 360 (XBLA).

Altered Beast first came out on November 27, 1988. It has seen many many ports but i will never forget the first time i picked up this game. So why not look this game up and have yourself some retro fun.
