Considering I was able to Romance all 4 women in the game... I would say this game is a success.

The game starts out simple enough with the main character waking up in the Alpha Protocol facility and told to try to escape as part of a training exercise. This part of the game will teach you the basic game play and mechanics. These of course are nothing new to most gamers as you play with a third person view and a minimal selection of weapons. So there is no confusion of trying to determine how to approach your enemies. The game will play out the same whether you decide the stealth approach or go in guns blazing.

What makes this game different from a typical action shooter is the RPG element. Each action you take (hacking PC, shutting alarms, topic choices) enables you to earn EXP towards leveling up. Plus, each successful mission gives more EXP. Also, there are a lot of scenes that will only play out a certain way based on the topics you choose during the conversations. You can be Aggressive, Professional or Suave and these choices not only determine the storyline, they also determine your relationship with different characters. These relationships will determine if groups will be on your side or against you in future missions. The big bonus is if you get at least 9 points for the female characters as you can then initiate "romance" (sex scenes) which actually benefit the character with 500 EXP each and +5 endurance. These extra points will be a huge benefit during the later stages of the game.

As for the game itself, you can only carry 2 different weapons for each mission and cannot pick up new weapons during gameplay, only ammo for existing guns. This might seem dull at first but in my opinion I was able to work and master these 2 guns for the entire game. So my accuracy and power were superior for most missions. There are times when enemies might seem overwhelming but with some good hiding and aim, all missions are easily overcome. Plus, you can turn off alarms to stop enemies from appearing at times. There is also the sneak take down moves that take out enemies without a sound and you can use a silencer or tranq darts to avoid making noise for easy stealth missions. I used the handgun and assault rifle through the entire game with easy success. There was plenty of ammo around. The only real upgrades I spent money on were a stronger vest (armor) so I could last longer in battles. The accessories helped but weren't as important as the main items.

Overall the game is fun to play and I like the fact that my topic decisions changed the outcomes of missions and end game. Since outcomes can change, there is a slight replay value but my choices enabled me to sleep with all 4 women in the game so as far as I am concerned, there is no better way of playing it out. The action can be intense and the A.I. is not all that bad so it's not as easy a game as I might make it seem. Definitely worth my playing time and anyone else's who would enjoy a simple action game with some real RPG elements.
