A bold step by Sega and Gearbox has the Wii U version the defining one after all: the one that stayed home.

This is by far the defining version of Aliens: Colonial Marines. Randy Pitchford has lived up to his promise that the Wii U version would stand atop the rest; thanks Randy.

It stands to reason you've done something pretty memorable when the version of the game you choose not to release is considered the best version, and that's exactly what you guys did. This is a bold, daring step in the video game industry, and it's one I hope companies all over the globe take part in: the movement to not release terrible games.

Aliens Colonial Marines on the Wii U is clearly the version to get: it costs you nothing, it won't disappoint you in any way, and you won't shut it off with that horrible "what if" feeling you get from other things that could have been. Wii U owners will never have to feel the keen sting Charlie felt when all of his friends boned the love of his life from the coffee shop. We can simply go back to enjoying other fine releases like Walking Dead: Survival Instinct and the now totally free Tank! Tank! Tank!

Now that I say that, I think cel-shaded tank fights might just actually be better than Aliens Colonial Marines. Thanks Gearbox for sparing Nintendo fans the pain; this is one third-party release I'm not disappointed is skipping my shiny new Nintendo console.
