Yeah, this is the Duke Nukem Forever of 2013, and I'm sure others have said it already but I don't care, what do I mean by that? Well, it's a hyped, long in development utter disappointment and middle finger to people who paid good money for this travesty, it's games like these that almost make me want to quit playing video games, it's genuinely terrible. Where to start? Okay, I got the game because I love the Alien franchise, I even liked Prometheus, and the game looked good, as everybody now know many of those videos were a con, it's not what you get here, so I feel ripped off, that's for sure. So what's wrong? Just about everything, number 1, as everybody else have mentioned, there is absolutely no tension throughout the game zero, okay, some have brought up the mission where you run and sneak around without any weapons as mildly tense and exciting, no, the only thing that added tension to this was that the game wouldn't simply do what it's supposed to enemies wouldn't always leave me alone even though I was standing perfectly still and out of their way. The shooting, which is what the rest of the game is with the exception of one superlame boss battle where you're in one of those power loaders. Just run aimlessly in circles pressing the trigger buttons and hope the lameness ends quickly. The final boss fight is ridicilous, I didn't die, it's super easy, and when the big moment came, the damn thing flew right through the enemy, yes, the last thing I saw of actual gameplay was a major glitch, it would've been funny if it wasn't so pathetic.
But the shooting is dull as well, okay, you get some mildly, moderately exciting sections but then they're usually, or almost always ruined by a couple of things, the unbelievably ugly graphics, the environments get so repetitive and boring, the characters are hideous on close-up and you can walk through them, the other thing that ruins the game are the glitches, I cannot recall having played a game THIS laden with glitches and bugs, it's astonishing, to be fair, they're not gamebreaking, at least they weren't for me, no save files got destroyed, no not triggering what was supposed to happen forcing me to restart or anything like that, just enemies disappearing, flying out of the screen a million miles per hour, through walls, characters with jerky movements, going crazy, okay, sometimes it could be somewhat entertaining to see what the heck would happen next. The story and characters, I just wouldn't care. And the aliens are complete pushovers, they're weaklings, or rather, they can kill you quickly if they gang up on you and you don't have protective gear, but they can be killed so easily and the game makes them boring, not scary or threatening. So positives? Some of the voice acting is okay, some minor moments that are...I guess a little...not cool, but not lame you know? And I guess the multiplayer, the co-op that is can be enjoyable in good company, you can laugh at the glitches together and stuff like that. Look, just avoid this game, don't encourage these losers, I'm angry, to hell with gearbox, seriously.
