Old School and v. short. You can't expect much on a $10 game but it only worth $5 or less. So Steam gave it for free.

User Rating: 4 | Alien Breed 2: Assault PC
There is a handful top-down shooter in modern world. I would compared to late comer "Alien Swarm". It is a difficult task to refuel a old-classcy gameplay but "Alien Swarm" did. However Alien Breed belongs to 1990s not 2000s.

Graphic
The use of UT3 engine made the game had some basic level of modern graphic, but you can had that experience in other games. It is neither bad or good.

Gameplay
The game had faulty aiming system. I can't aim the enemy near me and because it use a FPS engine with topdown angle, it had to change the viewpoint more often. The system would auto change but most of the time you had to change yourself. I often blocked by environment and made me annoying to change the view angle yo see what happen. Either developer reserved some interaction for player or they did not think it is annoying to be blocked or keep changing the angle.

Moreover the walking system. Press W did not made you moved forward but move upward toward the imaginary top of the screen. But it is buggy where the view angle had a 45% with the road. It is easy to understand when the road is horizontal of vertical to the screen, press W of AD for movement, but it had to press W & A to move "sidewards". The only way is change the viewangle back to 0, 90, 180, 270, so change angle sometimes more than the number of reloading.

Level
the map had many check point to save and buy ammo. But it is very short. It only had 5 level, made it 1/3 or even 1/4 that a normal game had. Buy all the series worth a full game length but no one would buy this game with such price ($10 x 3)
