Although a older historic strategy game it is still very addicting and very fun
The graphics in aoe are as you would expect a 10 year old history game like this to look. the people look nice and clean the buildings have nice detail but the trees dont look that great but it isnt distractig at all.
the sound in the game could have been better,for example the sound effects from aoe such as a lion or people talking it seems muffled and quiet. One thing that to me hurts the game is that you cant just destroy most of thier buildings and they surrender, you have to destroy every single unit whitch can take ahwile if one last soldier etc. are standing in the corner of the map and they keep moving around, that makes it difficult to find them.
One main problem aoe has is that the max population is 50 and i have play other history games such as empire earth2 and the pop can go up to 1000.
A good thing about aoe is each nation is it each has its own uniqe feel exept for a few, what i mean is say that you picked the romans and in the next game of aoe you play if you are the macedonians creating a villager will cost 50 food if you are the romens but if you are the maces it will cost 75 food a villager so you probably dont want a civ that cost so much stuff.
Of course there is a learning campaign in aoe and there are about 11 levels in the learning campaign and it gets hard after a while. there are a few other campaigns to play but can get boring after a while but you will enjoy them alot if you love time consuming games.AOE starts in 10,000BC and ends in 500AD so there is alot of ancient things in the game. There are four different ages in aoe whitch are the stone age 10,000BC - 7,500BC
the toolage 7,500BC-3,000BC bronze age 3,500BC-1,000BC and the IRON age 1,000BC -500AD.
Aoe is a classic real time strategy game with good value, it does have a few flaws but it is still worth playing
