you would think that having some arcade roots, having the opportunity to play this game at home on your old school pride of joy, would be as tantilising as doing the washing up... unfortunately its no where near as exciting.

its repetative gameplay and frustrating controls make it questionable enough, but you'll probably find yourself hitting your head against the wall NUMEROUS amounts of times due to the fact that the game is so damn BASIC (yes it will belittle you and your hardcore gaming skills), yet you will struggle to advance anywhere unless u have the reaction speed of a tortoise, which STILL isnt enough to combat the pure evil of the delayed controls!

you find yourself floating along in a F-14 Tomcat in one direction, (backwards would REALLY be more interesting) with the exception of being able to "almost" tilt the thing left and right to avoid incoming aircraft and their bludgeonin spitfire, unless you're REALLY good, u can tilt it up and down to avoid the sods and really look snazzy!...

avoiding the barrage of aircraft ( about 5 jets per level... maybe im exaggerating) is probably as exciting as it gets, but you'll find your increase in hair loss will probably be down to the sickeningly repetative nature of the game, and the lack of uniqueness to each level... however, you will likely find that your ultimate hatred may root itself in your efforts to perfect your path to the first boss, without the shoddy controlling blocking your on cue attempts to avoid being shot down, finally getting to it and then... yep you guessed... loosing your last life and having to start again!!! from the beginning!!!

its funny as i was given this game as a gift when i was about 7 or 8 years old, and even then i found completing any game as easy as scratching my bum... within about 4-5 hours at the time (which i was HIGHLY proud of... still am) ... but never in my entire time of gaming had i experienced anything so damn frustrating to the point of realising it wasnt actually anything i was doing! maybe getting used to the slow reactions of the controls would have gotten me somewhere, but to be honest when u own a game, you expect to be at least in control of what you are doing, and not feeling so out of control that you are throwing the control pads at the telly (like its actually going to feel the pain its inflicting upon your sanity!). this game really doesnt do it for me... and is probably still to this day the only game that makes me tense up and want to smash it... but grievances aside, besides being a pain and boring as hell, its a hallmark in an era of where games today have come from along with all its old school side-kicks... its useful to know that as a species we like to improve and better ourselves and what we do... you have to start somewhere!
