This is the probabley most underrated game here on gamespot, Advent Rising is a much better game than given credit for.
Gameplay
The gameplay in Advent Rising is really great, and fun. You have two hands (obviously) to use weapons at your discreation. The left trigger shoots the left hand, and the right trigger uses the right hand. In addition, guns dont have to be used in both hands; you can use a power in one hand, and a gun in the other hand which creates unlimited possibilities and combos(you can also use both hands with powers, and both hands with weapons;which is how you begin the game). You can also slow-mo dive, and lots of other moves. The experiences are endless, and you'll be coming back for more after you complete the game.
Graphics
The graphics are well done, smooth and detailed, nothing breaks apart, even when the frame-rate drops. Frame rate drops dont happen too frequently, but they are there. There not too bad, and don't drag down the gameplay experience. If you play computer games, and have alot of trouble running the newer games(like myself) you won't even notice the frame drops. As far as bugs, i've only found one; i got stuck in the wall, but since there are frequent checkpoints, it doesent really get to you when you have to start over.
Sound
Amazing! The soundtrack sounds like some of the best movie soundtracks out there, their just outstanding and will really inhale you into the gameplay experience.
Value
The worst part of the game to me. The game is only about 10-12 hours long. You will definitley want to play this game again for its great cut scenes(although camera shots are not all that great), story, and combat. There is also a single choice at the beggining of the game; i'm not going to say what, but you will want to play the game over to see the other side.
Overall
Advent Rising is a great experience. The story is really great, and it gives you a good reason to be blasting seekers heads in. Gameplay, music, and the movie like gameplay will all keep you entertained for a while, making sure that you won't getbored before your done. As i said, the frame rate problems are there, but it isn't enough to portray Advent Rising as a sloppy mess. Gamespots review was one of the most off reviews that i have seen in while...and it, and a couple other reviewers are the only ones that rated the game this low. The great story telling, and cinematic sequences in this game is up to par with the metal gear series, and is an experience that should definitley not be missed by any action-adventure fan.
