Another solid Ace Combat game. Short, but really highly addictive.

This game is one of the reason that I bought a PS2. I finished the first play through in about just one day and found out it is quite short compared to AC2~AC5. But after I started to play through different Ace styles, very soon I began to get addicted to this game.

The graphic is just amazing, all the planes are highly detailed, and the effect (explosion, afterburner...etc) looks really beautiful too. Terrain looks really good as long as you don't fly really slow and low to concentrate on observing how detailed the terrains are. (In harder difficulty level you can get easily shot down this way anyways). The cinematics are really amazing. I personally really like how the game managed all the interviews that actually talk about the player. This really help to bring me into the story. (Story is really good, a lot of illusion to WWII)

Sound effect is perfect, turn on your speakers loud and you can feel the ground is shaking with every explosion and flyby. Radio chatter bring you into the battle if you have some spare time to listen to it. And the best part is the sound track. For me the music is like Hollywood movie level. (I play the soundtrack when I am studying for midterms to bring up the "battle mood")

Gameplay wise,Compared with AC5, it is really good that you get to choose weapons for your plane in AC0, Ace-style is quite interesting, but I found out it doesnt really cahnge gameplay by a lot, it only affect more when you are doing ground attack mission. For example, if you are playing as a Knight Ace, you probably don't want to use FAEB to wipe out the whole city...

I personally really like the "plane level-up system" in AC5, which they have taken out in AC0. There are still a lot of plane to choose, but it is kind of pity that some of my favorite planes like F-14 does not have any high-end performance model in AC0. Also in AC0 they have taken out the "yes-no" option during mission. This sometimes made me tend to ignore the radio chatter because I can't really respond to it. In AC5 it was really nice that while going after a target, but I still have to concentrate on the radio chatter.

Difficulty is pretty much the same with all AC series. If you are a new comer to AC series, I recommend you to start from AC5. If you love AC series (especially AC5) make sure to get this game, you will sure love it.
