A game you can pick-up and play when trying to kill time.
Gameplay 8/10 - When it comes to 3 on 3's gameplay, it beats all the other categories. Not only does the game feel like a natural hockey game but it also adds powerups to grab on the ice that can effect the game and strategy of both teams.
The powerups in 3 on 3 are as follows:
- Freeze (Freeze one player of the opposing team)
- Big player (The player that grabs this powerup becomes a giant and is capable of knocking players across the ice)
- Small goalie (The opposing team's goalie grows to the size of an ant and can be very easily scored on.)
- Double score (The player that grabs this powerup gets two points for scoring one goal)
- Power shot (The player that grabs this powerup can shoot at the speed of light)
- Speedy (The player that grabs this powerup skates at the speed of light)
- Banana peel (The player that skates over this slips over it and falls to the ice)
Graphics 6/10 - The graphics for 3 on 3 are nothing special to mention but the art style is just right for the style of this arcade game. A goofy looking hockey game that convinces you to chuckle from time to time.
Sound 8/10 - If anything in this game is weird (which is probably everything), it would have to be the sounds made by the players and even the menu. A variety of high pitch to low pitch to even farts sounds fill this game which really adds the goof to goofy in the overall presentation.
Storyline - N/A
Online component 5/10 - 3 on 3's online component is fun but the lack of activity for it brings down the total score. It takes a few minutes to find a game but once you find one the competitive play begins and the race for powerups and goals is just the start of it.
Overall 7/10 - If your looking to have a good time with your friends or even by yourself then this is the right game to buy. For only 800 microsoft points you can play one of few hockey games that adds a twist to the gameplay. 3 on 3 is not a disappointment to hockey fans or fans of any other game.
